The Newport Blog: Updates + Seattle WA + Portland OR

New changes this Spring:

Our friend Cassie from our "Nexus" Bible study gave Ginger a new haircut at the salon where she works.

We adopted a puppy from the Potter League and named her Clementine. She's a mix of lots of breeds and has wirey hair (which we hope will shed less.) Many of the puppies from the Potter League come from South Carolina, where a lot of dogs run free and they have too many puppies. In New England, most dogs are spayed/neutered. Clementine was three months old and 9 pounds when we got her. By July, she's 23 pounds at six months.

After a local Irish concert in Jamestown RI, we visited their lighthouse with Tim. We also had fun at a playground.

We visited Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. Two Texas Tech students we knew are getting their Masters here.

In March Stephen got a new job with Absher Construction. They are based out of Seattle, WA, but won a bid to build new officer barracks on the Navy base here. Stephen is a Project Engineer, and he works with Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing management.

Stephen went to Seattle for training in June. He had dinner one night with Ginger's cousin Kelsey. Then he spent the weekend in Portland, OR. Brett has just moved there, where he is serving in the Coast Guard. Stephen got to visit the ship. Brett showing the sleeping quarters and dining hall:

Brett lived on ship a short while before getting an apartment. His wife Ashley came to join him shortly after Stephen's visit. Below, Stephen tried on a uniform:

Tim and Ginger drove to Boston to pick up Stephen from the airport after his trip. We visited the MIT campus. Ginger was extra excited to see Simmon's Hall, which she researced once in school.

Stephen and our landlord Paul have been working hard on the apartment almost every weekend. Here, knocking down a wall!

We're so glad warm weather has come back to New England. Phoebe, Madison and Clementine at a beach on The Point.

More adventures to come!
