There are eight new staff in the New England Region- (from left) Amy, Charles, (Kate returning), Byrce, Joshua, Victoria, Corey, Caleb, and Ginger! We arrived a weekend early for extra training, but also took time for lots of fun outdoors.
We played a game called Gaga- in a small pen, you hit the ball with your hands and try to tap others on their feet.
We also took an easy hike up Mt. Watatuk. Here, Amy and Victoria commune with nature.
Made it to the top! Hooray!
Ginger is part of SWNE: South Western New England. (The other divisions are Northern and Boston.) Here's all the staff and directors for the area. Back row left to right: Joel, Joshua, Leon, Greg (with baby Noah), Lena, Mike, Paul, Chris, Adam, Alyssa, Ben. Middle row: Sarah, Barbara, Shyla, Caleb, Dave, Ginger. Front: Liz, Hope, Amy, Kate, Crystal.
Then Ginger went home a few days, but soon returned for Summit with her students! Here, Rhode Island College gathers for some extra prayer time. Alexandra (president), Samantha, Keisha, Michael, and Jabier.
Every morning, the 100 student group studied Ephesians together. Afternoons were teaching time, and evenings worship and testimonies. Our fun time during the week was mostly spent at the lake, canoeing and swimming.
Every night, we had "campus time" with our group, to pray and make plans for the semester.
Three of us didn't have a car ride home, so we had a fun train adventure, riding first to Boston with several Harvard students, and their staff, Bolaji.
Our route was a bit dramatic- train to Boston, subway to a different station, then train to Providence. We missed the 5:00 train, and while waiting for the 5:40, boarded the wrong train. Thankfully, Jabier started chatting with the lady next to him, and she informed us, "No, this train is going to Kingstown, Massachusetts." We ran and just barely caught the right train. Below, Jabier hauling his 100 pound bag everywhere.
Saying bye to Harvard students Jennifer and Kogos.
Our train adventures made us a little late to our Core Team meeting, which is the volunteer leadership team at our chapter. Amy, Samantha, Michael, Ginger, Keisha, Jabier, Alex, Lindsay, Dina, and Jerry (not pictured.) We hope to keeping growing the team this year. Next few days is NSO: New Student Outreach- the first week of school where we'll invite new students to join us!
Our Vision at RIC this year is:
"To see all students and faculty transformed by the resurrected Jesus,
sent out to bring hope to the campus."
